Whether you are freshening up your kitchen floor or redesigning the whole room, choosing the best floor and wall tiles is essential to the success of the project. Selecting the ones that are both practical and complement your design can be a hard choice to make, so here are some tips on what you need to know before making this important decision.Kitchen Wall Tiles Cape Town
Choosing the correct type of tile
There’s an enormous choice of tiles suitable for kitchen walls and floors. Natural tiles will look fantastic however will require more care and can be less hard-wearing, whereas man-made tiles are the best value for money as well as the easiest to look after.
There’s an enormous choice of porcelain and ceramic tiles which offer a huge range of patterns and textures that will help you create the look you require. Whilst ceramic tiles can be a cost-effective option, porcelain tiles are made to be even more hard-wearing which means you can count on them for even longer and are most suited to being used on the floor.
Making a feature
Mosaic tiles are often made of glass and are a perfect way of making a feature or putting a bit of extra sparkle to a kitchen. With multicoloured glass mosaics and glittery quartz available in many colours, you can use them to create a really stunning focal point.
Polished quartz tiles have a glossy finish so, in lighter colours, will brighten the room, and also assist in making a smaller kitchen feel bigger. They’re easy to wipe down, too, making them great to use as splashbacks.
If you want to go upmarket, use marble-effect tiles to give you the lovely impression that you’re back on holiday, or visiting a grand palace somewhere hot. Again, made in porcelain, but a lot cheaper than the real thing! So you get the best of both worlds, as well as a kitchen with a huge wow factor.
Select the right design for your kitchen
By using different designs, colours and finishes, you can create a design that will be timeless and that you will never grow tired of. Patterning the floor is a huge trend, and is generally teamed with a plain wall tile. Or have the pattern on the wall and the plan tiles on the floor. It’s up to you.
